The above screenshot grabbed my attention for a number of reasons, one being the fact that just a few days ago, I published a story/podcast on maratimes website on a very similar subject.
That story was about a lady (Esther) who got pregnant for her lover whom she met at a church programme awhile back, and things were going smooth not until one day the dude told her he wasn't interested in the relationship anymore - And that was after being sexually involved with him.
Later, she discovered that she was pregnant and a test result confirmed it, when she reached out to the dude who was responsible (the dude that just broke up with her) He denied the baby, and to make matters worse, her father disowned her when he discovered she was pregnant.
He felt she was a disappointment and a disgrace to the family, hence she had to go through the pain of having to decide whether she'll keep the baby or not, if she has to keep the baby, how would she cope? Plus many other puzzling questions!
It was really a trying time for her - Eventually, Esther decided she'll keep the baby and fight through the challenges. At this time, Esther was jobless, but she was determined to care for her unborn child, no matter the odds.
Few months later, when she delivered the child, (a beautiful baby girl) the dude who was responsible reached out and said he would take responsibility for the child's upkeep, however, she'll remain a single mother.
He started sending some money for the child, but this only lasted for barely a year, and he ghosted them again, even until this very day.
Looking at this situation, how do you think parents, especially fathers handle such cases? Personally, I feel in both cases, that of Esther in our Maratimes story, and this one in the above screenshot, the parents were way too harsh, although in the case of Esther, her father never accepted her back, but for this new case, he is asking for public opinion whether he should accept her back or not.
First, it's a really wrong move to chase out a child who is so vulnerable, a child who needs all the parental care, guidance and love in this critical time - The action he took was way too harsh and could further endanger this child.
